The Great Shape Band is a place where young musicians can do
more than reproduce somebody else’s music.
An original song may begin with a guitar riff, a lyric,
a melody, a bass line, a voice memo, or even a strange idea
nobody knows what to do with yet.
That’s where we start.
Together we develop the idea, explore arrangements, learn
the individual parts and turn it into something that can
eventually be played by a real band in front of a real audience.
How we build a song.
Write
Lyrics, melodies, riffs and musical ideas can come from anywhere.
Shape
We experiment with song structure, tempo, instrumentation and arrangements.
Learn
Guitar, bass, drums, piano and vocals are broken into parts musicians can practice.
Play Live
The final destination isn’t the computer. It’s the stage.
