In the intriguing corridors of Hell’s Inn, there is a small light that shines brightly. “The Small Light Christian School”, led by Sonia Negrão. Sonia and her team dedicate their lives to teaching neighborhood children to read and write, grounding their lessons in biblical principles.
The pandemic of 2020 was a period of trials for all of us. It was during this time, amid isolation and uncertainty, that set the stage for the story of the boys from the well.
The challenge Sonia shared with me was desolate. After 20 years of dedication, Little Lights faced its greatest crisis. With the lockdown imposed by the government, keeping the school open seemed impossible. The small light that shone in Hell’s Inn was about to go out.”
This conversation was a turning point for me. The idea of losing Little Lights was unacceptable. It was then that, inspired by this urgency, we at the RocksmithClub devised a plan. Simple? Perhaps. Crazy? Definitely. But it was a plan that could save the school.”
The plan was reimagined: instead of shutting down, why not boldly break through the gates of Hell’s and rescue more children, offering them a chance to learn at Pequena Luz?
2020 Sonia Negrão made her first visit to our community and saw two boys drawing water from the local well. It was a touching moment that showcased their resilience and the daily challenges they face. Sonia’s visit brought a sense of hope and a fresh commitment to making a difference for these kids and their families.
II. A Bold Plan: Music to the Rescue
The plan was simple: our teenagers would play benefit concerts to raise funds to sponsor the boys from the well, ensuring they could pursue their education. Over the past three years, the results have exceeded our wildest dreams. Not only have we successfully sponsored the education of the boys from the well, but our efforts have also extended to 10 other children, thanks to the generous support of friends and family. These benefit concerts have become a beacon of hope, providing educational opportunities and changing lives in ways we never imagined possible. The power of music and community has proven to be an incredible force for good, fostering a brighter future for these children and their families.
And the load Doesn’t weigh me down at all He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother…

IV. A Bittersweet Farewell: New Beginnings.
After 3 years of unwavering support, filled with love, grace, and music, we are thrilled to announce that Fabricio and Pedro are moving out of Hell’s Inn. Their mother is relocating to the south of Brazil in search of better opportunities. Fabricio and Pedro were the first children of Project Luz, and seeing their journey unfold has been a true testament to the power of our mission.
“Then the light of my salvation will shine like the sun, and soon you all will be healed. Your Savior will guide you, and the presence of the Lord God will protect you on all sides. When you cry out for help, I will answer you; you will call for my help, and I will say: ‘Here I am!’ Isaiah 58:8Last Visit – Part TwoSame well, different boys. The boys from the well are two brothers we first sponsored from the harsh streets of Hell’s in Tapana to study at Escola Pequena Luz. With unwavering dedication and three years of support, we have witnessed a remarkable transformation. Their mother, now empowered and hopeful, is ready to move to the south of Brazil in search of a better life for her family. Our mission is accomplished, but the journey continues. Through love, grace, and the power of music, we strive to end illiteracy, hunger, and violence. Together, we can create a brighter future for all
V. The Legacy of Rock in Hell’s Inn.
June 08 2024 – The story will continue in Santa Catarina, south of Brasil.
We pray for Fabricio in this new chapter. This new adventure
This final photo is very significant to me. It symbolizes the conclusion of our Rock at Hell’s Inn project for Fabricio and Pedro, which has been a blessing from above for all of us. This project, which began as a dream to bring joy and hope through music, has exceeded all our expectations. Every chord played and every song sung represented a step towards a better future for the children we support. Fantastic is an understatement to describe the positive impact we have achieved together. We are immensely grateful for every moment and for every person who was part of this incredible journey.
“Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.
If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.” Isaiah 58:8-11 (NIV)
